Although (the majority of) the American intelligentsia, which used be considered leftist, and (most of) the media has submited themselves to the pro-war power group lead by the Bush style, neoconservative, fundamentalist-religious mission, there are progressive movements and communities in the USA, which do not join the narrow-minded "patriotic" choir and turn against the "narrathemes" defining and dominating public discourse.

The consistent, scientific and critical analysis of historical, real state socialism has practically failed to develop. In order to obtain a clear picture, state socialism should be examined in its own age and the historical, economic, legal and political context, in which it existed, which limited its scope. Reform experiments of state socialism, discussions at the time reflected such problems of the age, which are, partly or on the whole, still relevant.

The author critically reconstructs the fundamental characteristics and periods of development of Soviet culture. It contests those liberal and nationalist views, which seek to deprive the impoverishing population of its culture and history. Business culture, individualisation and the mock romantic Russification of Soviet culture in historic sense can be understood as cultural decline.
