The leading historian and sociologist claims that there is no such a thing as globalisation. He insists on the other hand that we can still speak about the relative decline of the US. This tendency manifests itself in the incapacity of the US to lead its allies into more and more wars in Asia and Africa.

Hungarian sociologist Gábor Kapitány outlined his wievs on the intellectual mode of production in Eszmélet No. 50. Senior philosopher J. Gondi challenges these views and calls for return to the original Marxist idea.

Erzsébet Szalai summarizes the theses of her new book with the above title (published by Aula in Budapest, 2001) and it is followed by reflections by Tamás Krausz and Péter Szigeti. An edited version of the discussion held by the Friends of Eszmélet Society.
