Local community money systes in the US
In the early 1930s when the economic crisis devastated America many communities found a solution for exchange by developing community money systems. Farmers continued to produce and many unemployed also wanted to work but the capitalist system did not allow them to integrate their activities. From the 1980s these local money systems have re-emerged again, this time as a result of deliberate strategy.
