Philosopher Istvan Meszaros published his opus magnum under the title Beyond Capital. It quickly became popular in Western circles of progressive social science. (Istvan Meszaros: Beyond Capital. Towards a Theory of Transition. Merlin Press, London, 1995.)

Historian Gyorgy Foldes, head of the Institute of Political History, published his analysis shortly after the Socialist Party lost the 1998 parliamentary elections. The essay follows Schumpeter's prediction, in which the Austian economist claimed that the changes of the 20th century would lead to something completely different from capitalism, and we could even call that socialism. These changes are related to human capacities and needs.

With publishing one of his last essays, we remember the late advisor of Eszmelet, Imre Marton. He analysed the correlation between anti-imperialist and anti-capitalist struggles, and he drew lessons for post-communist countries, and for the whole humanity.
