The beast from inside – Korten on corporations ruling the world
Professor D.C. Korten claims that the modern world economic system is fundamentally ill-conceived. Even the nation-states cannot defend people from multinational corporations. Europe inorporated
The accomplishment of a united Europe looks closer and closer. Behind the common European politics, however, we can discover lobby activities unnoticed by most of us. During these activities greal corporations gradually shape an economic and political environment suitable to their purposes. The other side, i.e. small entrepreneurs, trade unions and environmentalists must face a good deal of organisational and financial obstacles when they want to influence European Policy. This must be considered when we analyse the integration process of former socilist countries.

"What kind of job do you find humiliating?" was asked from applicants to a student group. The funniest answer was, "what also a woman or a black can do." Probably this catches the best how privileged groups in society take granted the division of labour between gender and races, the marginalisation of groups with a lower status and everyday discrimination. This phenomenon is not new but a turning point can recently be detected in social science that created an explosion in the number of studies on the increasing multitude of layers of the political and social power structure and that directs progressive social science also towards new directions.
