The death of Ferenc Puskás was a political event in Hungary – different groups of the ruling elite has transformed the burial to a play. The political message of Fidesz and the catholic clergy did not fit to the taste of the majority of the society. The article outlines the reasons behind, and shows the mystic and romantic nationalist interpretations of Puskás career and opposes it to his actual life path. The author shows that football became the tool of populist political manipulation also on the global field. Puskás "Öcsi" could not avoid his fate either. Politics and business are organically and inextricably intertwined also in the football industry.

The writing attempts to present economic relationships said to be difficult to understand as simple and transparent relationships. By doing so it depicts the types of praying for food and profits. It translates economic categories: instead of using academic categories for argumentation it uses common terms in order to increase the chances of the public for an insight.
