The evolution of Hungarian new capitalism, similarly to the other Central Eastern European countries has happened under the flag of neoliberalism. One of the specialities of transition is the multiple change of political orientation of the technocrats and economists, which (among others) has led to te present dual party orientation.

Following the death of Ronald Reagan, several obituaries have appeared in the Hungarian press. By examining these, a contemporary Reagan myth comes to light with respect to the special relation between the US and the present East Central Europe.

The system change has also ended in Slovakia: the aim of the new power elite is not to accustom to Western European patterns but to execute in disguise reforms a uniquely radical, rightist economic policy. Slovakia, or even the whole Eastern European region could become the laboratory for neoliberal forces?

The aim of the "New American Century" project of the Washington leadership is to stabilise inequality and create American hegemony in the world for any price, however Apocalyptic. The World Social Forum demands justice and survival.
