Untrue Readings or How to Constructa Disputant
The author, member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, reacts to the study of Tamás Krausz published as a supplement of the previous issue of our journal on the links between Hungarian historiography and Marxism. The author considers Krausz not understanding or misinterpreting his writings thus 'at the moment' rejects the possibility of a serious debate.
Cradles of a Different Europe. The History of Longo Mai Cooperatives in Europe, 1968-2012
In December 1972 a group of young people from over 10 European countries hold a meeting in Basel with the aim of "creating experimental zones as expressions of a Europe in solidarity, communities of peace and democracy, which are self-sustaining due to agriculture, handicraft and manufactured products derived from the communities." This essay – based mainly on the book written by Beatriz Graf in 2006 and on an interview made with Heike Schiebeck in the summer of 2012 – tries to give an overall picture about the rich story of the Longo Mai Cooperatives.
Gábor Gyáni, Who Has Not Been Understood
"Hungarian historiography … could have gained a lot if one of the main-stream historian, Gábor Gyáni would take up his function as an ideologist and would have reacted to the criticism seriously," writes the author in his response and adds that "… also Gábor Gyáni should accept that he is not exempted from being criticised, and also should recognise the fact that the neo-Marxist current exists, furthermore, it is time for him, to realise that this intellectual-theoretical current is getting established also in Hungary, similarly to many other countries in the word."
