The conclusion of the past in the postwar Austria. Remembrance, national socialism and the interpretation of 1945 in North-Burgenland
The article makes an attempt to revise the image of the Austrian national memory of Austria's participation in World War II. The author – on the basis of a well-documented case study in Burgenland – comes to the conclusion that the local community accepted the racist policy and genocide by the nazis, or at least they resigned themselves to it, and the final disappointment only came at the time when total war was threatening Burgenland, too.
