Latin America in the World System: Questions and Alliances between Periphery and Centre

Supranational alliances reshape the centre-periphery relations in Latin America and the Caribbean, causing internal fractions in the economic and political links of the continent and claiming for a new geopolitical approach. The author focuses on countries that in fact able to position themselves as semi-peripheries. Mexico supports the US interests thus becoming its subordinated periphery, Brazil has its own ambition for power in the North-South play, thus questions and redefines its relationship to the su
