“Cool” Capitalism. The Great Refusal

The critique of canonised literature is well known but canonised painting is watched with less sharp critique of its system. The author attempts this as he fits bohe-mianism in the bourgeois culture with a historic angle, and tries to come up with politically unbiased answers how Picasso, Rivera and Kahlo looked at the Stalinist system. He also investigates how the critique of the system could be detected that time and can be now in paintings.
