Lessons of the Chinese reforms

China has produced the most remarkable economic growth in the past fifteen years. The question is whether she produced a model to be followed as well or not. If that is the case, much of the suffering following the East European shock therapies could have been avoided.

Kalecki’s arguments for socialism

The Polish economist Michal Kalecki agreed with Thorstein Veblen that the main problem of capitalism is underproduction and instability. Both believed that only socialism would be able to tackle these through centralized economic planning.
