In Romania, the Left still has to face Stalinism. The author, in terms of rejecting monolithic thinking, considers Stalinism an isotope of capitalism, which has not ended in 1953, and offers an insight into her own opinion as well as the current Romanian discourse.

The article unfolds the critique of modernisation through presenting the historiography of the Indian workers, and seeks to answer the question: what theoretical framework is needed for social scientific thinking to be perspective. It provides a complex picture of the differences between the Indian work culture and the world of metropolises. Embedded in the centre-periphery structure, it illustrates the development of labour, which has deviated from liberal models.

Although some still refer to Mexico as a success story, there is a growing consensus that the free trade experiment, did not meet the expectations. According to the promises of the advocates of free trade, Mexico should have already harvested the fruits of liberalisation. Well, she did not. 

The author argues that there were no real leftist alternatives for the state socialism in the 1980s. According to him, those discussions only displayed civil models of market economy and democracy as an alternative to the actual system.

According to the author, state socialism is only a station in the transition from pseudo-feudalism to capitalism, and as a consequence of this, the change of system was enforced by the interest of the organic capitalist development.
